It’s all up in the cloud this week with the capital’s new cloud-based incident management system and news that Nimbula and OpenStack are joining forces.  To lighten the mood a little we have been looking at some great cloud infographics.

Cloud-based incident management system implemented in London

The Greater London Authority (GLA) has deployed a cloud-based incident management systemNew cloud system for Greater London to help deal with issues like major traffic crashes, street protests, fires or even terrorist attacks.

The Incident Manager application maintains a central “single version of the truth” on all issues as they are dealt with, and ensures each issue is allocated for resolution quickly and efficiently through in-built workflows.  It is supplied as a software-as-a-service solution and is built on top of the Salesforce platform.

"The system provides the GLA and its partners with a flexible and resilient information management solution, facilitating effective issue management, monitoring and reporting across multiple service areas." said Vincent Fihosy, city operations programme director at GLA.

Nimbula joins OpenStack community

We thought the news that Nimbula was joining forces with OpenStack was worthy of a mention in our roundup. The announcement is a big boost to the cloud infrastructure collective, with Nimbula pledging to use OpenStack core technology in future releases.

Reza Malekzadeh, VP of marketing and sales at Nimbula said: “Our customers appreciate the advanced functionality, scale and security model we provide, but have been asking us about a standardised one. We are excited to now be in a position to work with the OpenStack community to deliver a range of extended infrastructure and platform services around an industry-standard effort.”

Nimbula has been recognised for being innovative, impactful and intriguing, being named Cool Vendor 2012 by Gartner.
